General Information

The Hotel Chesa Spuondas enjoys an unspoiled view on the Suvretta slope in St. Moritz. Situated on a large, private plot of land surrounded by natural meadows and a stock of ancient trees, it overlooks the entire valley. Dating back to 1927, the historic Engadine art nouveau villa is an insiders’ tip for individuals looking for an exceptional hotel experience: those seeking tranquillity, hikers, nature lovers, culture lovers, active sports enthusiasts and families. A spacious communal area comprising a library, lounge and dining room is available for guests’ use. Hallmarks of the hotel are its individual, distinctive furniture and antiques. Each of the 17 rooms is unique, with no two rooms alike. There are no televisions or telephones in the bedrooms to distract guests from relaxing and enjoying the extensive views. The services and infrastructure are both child-friendly and parent-friendly. The Spuondas land with its playground and stream extends to the adjacent forest, allowing children plenty of room to explore, hide, sledge, build huts and, generally, romp around. In addition, we offer various activities as well as childcare facilities. We recommend that those seeking tranquillity take a break in the library, sauna, on the sun terrace or on long walks. The historic hotel is located just a short walk from Lake Marsch, Lake Nair, Lake Sils and the Corviglia ski area. In summer, we offer packages including the mountain railways, and in winter the hotel ski pass for those staying for 2 nights or more.

St Moritz:

St Moritz is one of the most famous resorts in the world. This fashionable and opulent village with a cosmopolitan ambience, is located at an altitude of 6000 feet above sea level in the heart of the Engadin valley, surrounded by the majestic mountain peaks of the Swiss alps. The sun shines on St. Moritz an average of 322 days a year (more than anywhere else in Switzerland). Favored winter retreat of the international élite, St Moritz was built around two villages: one on the shores of St. Moritz Lake, and the other on the hillside above. St. Moritz is influenced by three cultures: that of the German speaking majority of its residents, the Romansch speaking population of the Engadine and the nearby Italians. St. Moritz originally rose to prominence because of its healing mineral springs, which have been widely acclaimed for their beneficial effects for over 3,000 years. Even in the Middle Ages, visitors came to St. Moritz to take these waters in summer. In fact, in 1519 Pope Leo X promised full absolution
